Except Ariel wasn’t trying to fit into society. Ariel was going AGAINST society to try and become the person she wanted to be.
Her entire story is about being who you want to be- even if your family doesn’t support you, even if other people make it hard for you, even if you can’t talk to other people and make them understand. Ariel knew what she wanted and she went out and made it happen.
And I think it’s kind of crummy to twist her story around with this kind of trivial misreading.
